Manchester United reportedly had scouts at Sporting Lisbon's league contest with Porto last week to watch Geovany Quenda following claims that the Red Devils have a deal in place to sign the youngster this summer.
The 17-year-old was given his big break at Sporting by now Man United head coach Ruben Amorim, and he has been in excellent form this season, scoring twice and providing seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.
Man United allegedly have a deal in place to sign Quenda for £50m this summer, with the Red Devils said to have moved quickly amid the growing interest in the teenager's services.
Amorim's influence is believed to have been key in the 20-time English champions allegedly winning the race, and according to Record, Man United had scouts at Sporting's league contest with Porto last week to watch him in action.
Quenda impressed in what proved to be a 1-1 draw, coming up with an assist, and he has been used down the left of late despite featuring as a right-sided wing-back under Amorim at Sporting earlier this season.

Man United 'watched Quenda' against Porto on Friday
The teenager came through the Sporting youth system as an attacker, scoring nine goals and registering seven assists in 24 appearances at Under-23s level, but he was converted to a wing-back by Amorim.
It is expected that he will be used down the right by Amorim at Man United, if a deal does indeed go through, although the fact that he has recently featured on the left opens up an interesting open.
Indeed, Patrick Dorgu had been playing down the left for Lecce before his arrival at Old Trafford, but his Red Devils debut against Leicester City in the FA Cup last time out came as a right-sided wing-back.
Quenda has one goal and four assists in 21 league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign, while he has also shown his class in the Champions League, managing one assist in nine outings in the competition.

Will Man United move for any other Sporting players this summer?
Amorim is also believed to be keen on a reunion with striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has scored 34 goals in 35 appearances this season.
The 26-year-old's release clause is set at around £83m, but it is understood that he could be available for a fee in the region of £60m, which would represent a bargain in the current market.
Man United have also previously been credited with an interest in Sporting's Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand, in addition to central defenders Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande.
However, it is understood that Quenda and Gyokeres are the two realistic targets for the Red Devils this summer, and a deal for the former may already be in place if recent reports from Portugal are to be believed.
