Welsh chef de mission Brian Davies has lauded the rhythmic gymnastics trio after they won their country's first medal of Glasgow 2014 and their first ever team gymnastics Commonwealth medal.
Francesca Jones, Laura Halford and Nikara Jenkins combined yesterday for a score of 136.625, which saw them finish in silver-medal position behind Canada and ahead of Malaysia.
"Our gymnasts have made history tonight," Davies said shortly afterwards. "They've worked incredibly hard to get here and it's so pleasing to see them rewarded, especially when you know how much effort both the athletes and the coaches put in.
"Frankie, Nikara and Laura are a real credit to the team and we're all very proud of them. What a way to start the Games."
Jones and Halford will now compete in the individual all-around final later today after posting the second and fifth-best qualifying scores respectively.
