Team England's Fran Halsall has qualified for the final of the women's 50m butterfly race at the Commonwealth Games, breaking the competition record in the process.

The 24-year-old, taking part in the second semi-final, won by a clear margin at the Tollcross Swimming Centre to guarantee her place in the final.

Her swim of 25.36 seconds was the fastest time in the event over the history of the Games.

The final will take place tomorrow evening at 9:04pm.
