Albert Ramos stuns Milos Raonic at Roland Garros to book last-eight spot

Eighth seed Milos Raonic is dumped out of the French Open in round four by world number 55 Albert Ramos.

Albert Ramos has booked an unlikely place in the quarter-finals of the French Open thanks to a straight-sets win over Milos Raonic at Roland Garros.

The world number 55 cruised into the last eight with a 6-2 6-4 6-4 triumph in under two-and-a-half hours, having already produced his best-ever run in Paris.

Ramos held throughout the opening set while breaking his opponent - who suffered from a hip complaint in the previous round - on two occasions, saving all three break points to hold off the eighth seed.

Both players were unable to hold their service game in the early stages of the second set, but Ramos came out on top in the third game despite being denied with five previous break points.

That opened the door for the Spaniard to push on and take the set in a relatively straightforward manner, before holding in the third and final set and getting over the line with his third match point.

Ramos will now face either Stanislas Wawrinka or Viktor Troicki in the last eight, as he looks to continue his best-ever run here.
