Stanislas Wawrinka has kept his Japan Open hopes alive by overcoming Hiroki Moriya 7-5 4-6 6-4 in a tough contest in Tokyo.
The Swiss pro started off stronger in the opening set by breaking his opponent and holding his serve well. Moriya tried to force a tie break but Wawrinka was able to avoid the tense decider and take the first set.
Moriya launched an impressive comeback in the second by grabbing a break and preventing Wawrinka from maintaining his dominance.
After snatching the second set and forcing through a decider, Moriya was unable to keep up the pressure, allowing his Swiss opponent to take hold of the game and finish off the match.
