Michael Clarke slams "unacceptable" individual performance

Australia captain Michael Clarke labels his personal performance in his side's 74-run defeat at the hands of England today as "unacceptable".

Australia captain Michael Clarke has produced a scathing analysis of his personal performance in his side's 74-run defeat at the hands of England today.

Australia collapsed from 109 without loss to 224 all out, losing nine wickets in the evening session alone to hand England the outright series win.

Clarke made just 25 runs in his two innings and believes that he cannot criticise other members of the team when he has not led by example.

"My job is first and foremost to score runs, and I only made 25 in this Test. That's unacceptable," he told reporters.

"When you pick the squad you have to keep the faith and try and get the best out of them - and it would be nice if the captain led by example and scored a few more runs as well."

Clarke did have a better time of things in the third Test, scoring 187 runs in the first innings as Australia prevented a 5-0 whitewash.
