Andrew Strauss backs Graeme Swann to do a "good job" as England Twenty20 captain.

Andrew Strauss believes that Graeme Swann will do a "good job" captaining the England Twenty20 side as they prepare to take on the West Indies.

Swann was given the captaincy after Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan were ruled out with injuries.

Despite the 32-year-old being known as a joker within the England camp, Strauss believes that the role will suit the Nottinghamshire bowler.

"I think he will do a really good job," said Strauss. "He has always been a very important part of the dressing room and the sort of guy who other people listen to, so he will do a great job.

"He is under no illusion that he will be taking over as the full-time captain, but I think it will do him good, he will enjoy it."

England take on the West Indies in day one of the Twenty20 contest at The Oval tonight (Friday).
