Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has been included in Pakistan's squad for the upcoming first Test against England.
It's over five years since Malik, 33, last played in a Test for Pakistan, coincidentally against England at Edgbaston, but he has been added to the squad at the request of team manager Intikhab Alam after discussions with coach Waqar Younis.
Chief selector Haroon Rashid said on the Pakistan Cricket Board's website: "I spoke with my fellow selectors and there was unanimity over retaining [Malik], keeping in mind his current batting form and the off-spin bowling option that could be handy in the all-important forthcoming Test series against England."
The three-Test series starts in Abu Dhabi next week.
