Team Sky's Chris Froome says that winning the Tour de Romandie is a good omen ahead of the Tour de France.

Chris Froome has described winning the Tour de Romandie as a "good omen" as he prepares for this summer's Tour de France.

The Team Sky rider, who is currently the favourite for this year's Tour de France, finished third in the time trial stage earlier today, ensuring that he topped the general classification in the six-day race.

The 27-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It has been a really good week for us. I am really happy with my condition now in the build-up to the Tour de France.

"Every race I do now is a good test for me, to see exactly where my condition is and what I need to work on. It has been a really good experience for me this week.

"It is definitely a good omen, but the Tour is still two months away and I need to do a lot of hard training before then."

Sir Bradley Wiggins won last year's Tour de Romandie before becoming the first British rider to win the yellow jersey at Le Tour.
