Derek McInnes: 'Aberdeen not thinking about Scottish Premiership title'

Derek McInnes says that it is too early for Aberdeen to be considered contenders for the Scottish Premiership title.

Derek McInnes has played down Aberdeen's chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title.

The Dons are currently unbeaten and lead Celtic by five points after downing the defending champions 2-1 last weekend.

"I think it's very early to be saying anything like that. From our point of view, we want to be as competitive as possible for as long as possible in all competitions," McInnes told Sky Sports News.

"We've built a squad here and have managed to get the squad to be successful.

"We're delighted with the start, but it is only a start. If we treat every game with the focus and concentration then hopefully we can continue to win games and see where it takes us."

Aberdeen continue their campaign with a trip to Hearts on Sunday.
