Paris Saint-Germain held to goalless draw by Angers

Angers hold French champions Paris Saint-Germain to a goalless draw in Ligue 1.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have been held to a goalless draw at Angers in an evenly-matched Ligue 1 clash.

The match almost started with a bang as the visitors struck the woodwork with five minutes on the clock, Edinson Cavani heading Angel di Maria's cross onto the upright.

Angers proved more than a match for PSG during a goalless first half, and they struck the frame of the goal themselves in the 38th minute when Billy Ketkeophomphone headed Thomas Mangani's cross against the bar.

PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was tested early in the second half when Ketkeophomphone's cross was headed towards goal by Cheikh Ndoye, but the German was equal to his effort.

Lucas Moura flashed an effort wide at the other end in the 51st minute, while Angers wide man Abdoul Camara blazed a shot over the bar in the 72nd.

Both sides had last-ditch chances to win it, Cavani heading a corner just wide from an angle with five minutes left before Arnold Bouka Moutou fired narrowly off target following a swift break.

The result sees PSG retain their unbeaten start to the league campaign and leaves them 14 points clear at the top of the table, having played a game more than second-placed Caen.
