Arsene Wenger pleased by Arsenal response

Arsene Wenger reveals his delight at Arsenal's showing against Galatasaray last night, claiming that his side produced a "strong performance" to see out Group D.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised his players for bouncing back from their recent disappointment with an emphatic victory against Galatasaray last night.

The Gunners have struggled to maintain form in the Premier League this season, finding themselves 13 points adrift of leaders Chelsea following last weekend's defeat at the hands of Stoke City.

However, the under-fire boss was pleased with what he saw in last night's 4-1 triumph at the Turk Telekom Arena, despite seeing his side miss out on top spot in Group D to Borussia Dortmund.

"We gave a strong response from the start," Wenger told reporters following the game. "We looked dangerous every time we won the ball back, we had good penetration, we scored good goals and until half time I feel we were very strong.

"In the second half we suffered a bit more for two reasons - some players had not played enough competitive games and I had to take two players off. But, overall, it was a strong performance."

Next up for Arsenal is a return to domestic action, with Newcastle United visiting the Emirates Stadium this coming weekend.
