Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal can handle pressure'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that his players can cope with the pressure of being favourites to win the FA Cup.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that his players can cope with the pressure of being favourites to win the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners will be hopeful of ending their nine-year trophy drought when they face Hull City in the final at Wembley.

Wenger has admitted that while his team are heavily fancied to beat their opponents, they must be at their best to ensure that they don't end the season without any silverware.

"We have said it all. We are favourites. Yes. Unfortunately that doesn't guarantee you anything. It just means do you produce on the day a top-level performance you have a good chance to win," Wenger is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"You don't prepare games with that in your mind. You prepare a game by thinking that the best chance to win is to play at your best, at your top. But 2005 was an ugly win. And a lucky one.

"Wigan in the semi-final was different. We were under pressure to finish fourth in the league, we were on a low point, to lose that would have created a huge disappointment. The pressure, you have to use it in a positive way. We would rather be here than not."

Arsenal can win the trophy for a record-equalling 11th time, in what will be their 18th appearance in the final.
