Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson reveals that he apologised to teammate Eric Garcia after the Spaniard was hospitalised following a collison in the win over Arsenal.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has revealed that he issued an apology to teammate Eric Garcia following a collision in their victory over Arsenal on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old was knocked out cold by the Brazilian goalkeeper after he rushed out of his area to clear the ball away from danger, and Garcia left the pitch on a stretcher following 10 minutes of treatment.

The Spaniard has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home, and Ederson has opened up on the conversations between himself and Garcia following the incident.

"I was talking to him just before the interview. I was unable to be with him yesterday after the match because from the stadium he went straight to the hospital and went straight to the observation. But it was just a big scare, he's fine," Ederson told ESPN Brasil.

"He only has a small cut inside the lip. Today I talked to him, I apologised. I said it wasn't my intention to hurt him. But there it was a decision that I had to make. But he understood well, we talked.

"He's a boy that I like a lot, I always joke with him here on a daily basis, he knows that. So thank God he's okay, it was just a big scare."

Goals from Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden gave Pep Guardiola's side a 3-0 win over Arsenal on the night.
