Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has hailed former Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason as an "inspiration for others".
Mason was forced to retire from football on Tuesday afternoon after fracturing his skull in a challenge with Gary Cahill in January 2017.
Gunners stopper Cech took to Twitter to pay his tributes to the 26-year-old, praising Mason's determination and bravery.
"Yesterday was a sad day for one incredible young man," the goalkeeper wrote. "Although his story didn't finish with ultimate happy ending, his determination, attitude and bravery he's shown during his recovery is something to be admired and an inspiration for others! All the best Ryan."
Former Czech Republic international Cech also suffered a depressed skull fracture in 2006 while playing for Chelsea.
