Arsene Wenger to leave Arsenal for AS Monaco?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is approached by Ligue 1 outfit Monaco to become the principality club's new boss, according to a report.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been approached by Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco to become the principality club's new boss, according to a report.

The 64-year-old, whose future at the North London club is unclear after failing to pen a contract extension beyond the end of the current season, is allegedly on the shortlist of the French league club's Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev.

Should incumbent manager Claudio Ranieri depart Monaco, then the principality club would offer Wenger an annual salary of £12.3m, according to the Independent.

Monaco, who are 10 points behind Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain, were managed by Wenger from 1987 to 1994.
