Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Arsenal could line up for Wednesday's EFL Cup third-round clash with AFC Wimbledon.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is set to ring the changes for his side's EFL Cup third-round clash with AFC Wimbledon at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners are without Granit Xhaka through suspension and Mohamed Elneny is still battling a hamstring issue, while Kieran Tierney was forced off with cramp against Burnley and is unlikely to be risked.

Aaron Ramsdale started the second-round thrashing of West Bromwich Albion but has since become the Gunners' first-choice keeper ahead of Bernd Leno, so the German can expect to earn some minutes here.

Arteta now has his first-choice backline available and has seen his side keep back-to-back clean sheets in that time, but Nuno Tavares, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers will all hope to be handed starts here.

Seventeen-year-old midfielder Charlie Patino is expected to make the squad after some eye-catching displays for the Under-23s, but the teenager is unlikely to be considered for a start over Albert Sambi Lokonga or Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Nicolas Pepe and Emile Smith Rowe may keep their spots from the win over Burnley - this game would have been a perfect opportunity for Reiss Nelson to earn some more minutes in red, but the 21-year-old instead linked up with Feyenoord, where his fitness issues continue to bedevil him.

Folarin Balogun and Eddie Nketiah both ought to earn some minutes here, although Alexandre Lacazette has barely been handed any Premier League opportunities this term and will provide some much-needed experience in attack alongside Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal possible starting lineup: Leno; Chambers, Holding, Mari, Tavares; Lokonga, Maitland-Niles; Pepe, Smith Rowe, Martinelli; Lacazette
