Chuba Akpom returns to Arsenal for youth fixtures

Striker Chuba Akpom will miss Coventry City's match with Tranmere after temporarily returning to parent club Arsenal to feature in two youth fixtures for the Gunners.

Coventry development director Steve Waggott has insisted that Chuba Akpom's loan contract stipulates that he is able to be recalled by the Premier League club.

Akpom only made the move to the Sky Blues last Friday, but after making just one appearance for the League One club, he has already temporarily returned to the Gunners to feature in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.

Waggott told the club's official website: "As part of the contract to allow Chuba to join us, there was always an agreement that he could be recalled by Arsenal should they require him.

"He has been an integral part of their FA Youth Cup run and we understand head of youth development Liam Brady's reasoning for wanting him back for their upcoming games."

The 18-year-old should return to Coventry in time for their match with Shrewsbury Town on March 2.
