Carlo Ancelotti 'offered Italy manager's job'

A report claims that Carlo Ancelotti, linked with the Arsenal and Chelsea jobs, has been offered a two-year deal to take charge of Italy.

Carlo Ancelotti has been formally approached to take over as the next manager of the Italy national side, according to a report.

The 58-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Bayern Munich in September, four months after winning the Bundesliga title in his maiden campaign at the club.

Ancelotti has not been short of offers since departing the Allianz Arena, while both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to have placed the experienced boss on their list of candidates to succeed Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte respectively.

Sky Sport Italia claims that managerless Italy may have got there first, however, having held talks with the 58-year-old in Rome on Monday evening.

The Azzurri, who got rid of Gian Piero Ventura following their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, are rumoured to have offered Ancelotti a two-year contract which has yet to have been signed.
