Arsenal 'narrow manager hunt down to two candidates'

Arsenal reportedly narrow their manager hunt down to Mikel Arteta and Julian Nagelsmann.

Arsenal have allegedly narrowed their hunt for a new manager down to two candidates.

Former Gunners player Mikel Arteta and 1899 Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann are the frontrunners to replace Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, according to Sky Sports News.

The duo are said to have been installed as the favourites to land the position after Arsenal's top target, Massimiliano Allegri, said that he will not be leaving Juventus unless he is sacked.

Elsewhere, the former favourite for the post, ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, is reportedly interested in the job but submitted wage demands Arsenal were unwilling to meet.

Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry, who were popular figures at Arsenal during their playing days with the club, are not believed to have been approached.

The report states that Arsenal will begin interviewing candidates this week, with a view to filling the position before the World Cup begins on June 14.
