Paul Merson expects Arsenal to win Community Shield

Arsenal will beat Chelsea and win the Community Shield tomorrow, according to former attacker Paul Merson.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has predicted that the Gunners will claim their second straight Community Shield trophy against Chelsea tomorrow.

The North London side are unbeaten in pre-season and have seen off the likes of Everton, Wolfsburg and Lyon, while Chelsea have had mixed success in North America.

Merson believes that the game is more important to Arsene Wenger's men and expects them to prevail at Wembley Stadium.

He told Sky Sports News: "I would say this game means more to Arsenal than it does to Chelsea and I think that when it is like that, the team it matters most to usually win.

"Chelsea will have been in America playing big games and I just think that Arsenal will be up for it more, as they were against City last year. And when that happens, that team usually win, so I am just going to go for an Arsenal victory.

"However, I would be shocked if Arsenal finish above Chelsea come the end of the season."

Arsenal open their Premier League campaign against West Ham United next Sunday.
