Wojciech Szczesny hails Arsenal's defence

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny praises his side's defenders for keeping out the Liverpool duo Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge on Saturday.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has praised his side's defensive performance during their 2-0 home win against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Poland international believes that keeping out Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge for 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium proves that the Gunners are strong defensively.

"[Suarez and Sturridge] are fantastic players," Arsenal's official website quotes Szczesny as saying. "They are both among the best strikers in the Premier League, it's always hard to play against them but we did that with the clean sheet.

"They didn't create a lot of chances so, credit to our defence, it was a very good defensive performance from us.

"We knew it was a very important game for us, we knew that winning this game would mean a lot and create a gap in the table at the top and I'm delighted with the result and the way we played. You have to say we deserved the win so I'm very happy."

Arsenal are currently five points clear at the top of the league table.
