Wenger: 'Bale's no Ronaldo'

Arsene Wenger believes that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale does not deserve to be compared with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi yet.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is nowhere near reaching the heights of La Liga stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Wales international, who signed a fresh long-term contract with Spurs last summer, has been compared to the world's greatest football talents due to his recent prolific form with the North London side.

"I wouldn't go as far as that," ESPN quotes Wenger as saying. "He has the potential to develop and to get close to the players you compare him to, but Ronaldo and Messi?

"Messi has won two or three Champions League titles. He has won a few championships. He scored more than 90 goals last year. Let's not go too quick [with Bale]. You are always very quick here, but let's slow down a bit."

The 23-year-old has netted 17 goals for Tottenham so far this season.
