Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez is not physically ready'

Arsene Wenger admits that Alexis Sanchez is "not completely ready physically", but he is confident that the forward will soon find his best form for Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Alexis Sanchez is not physically ready to produce his best form for the club.

The 25-year-old joined the Gunners last month, but made just one appearance in pre-season due to his participation for Chile at the World Cup earlier this summer.

He was substituted at half time during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Everton today and Wenger admits that his confidence is suffering.

"I wouldn't like to go into any individual assessment. At the moment he is not completely ready physically but I don't worry about him," he told reporters.

"At the moment he knows that he's not at his best physically and once he's at his best physically, the confidence will come back.

"It's all linked together. It's always difficult to know why the confidence is not at his best. I believe it's mainly physical."

Sanchez scored 21 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season.
