Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez will rest after injury crisis'

Arsene Wenger says that Alexis Sanchez needs to be rested but will play against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday due to an injury crisis.

Arsene Wenger has said that Alexis Sanchez will be rested after a number of key players recover from injury.

Arsenal are currently missing five attacking players, so Sanchez will play against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday just days after returning from international duty with Chile.

"I am worried because before he went away with Chile he was a bit jaded. But if I ask him 'are you tired?' you can guess the answer," Wenger told reporters.

"At some point I will give him a break. At the moment I am a bit short because there's no [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain, no [Aaron] Ramsey, no [Theo] Walcott, no [Jack] Wilshere, no [Danny] Welbeck. There are not many offensive positions where I can rotate."

The 26-year-old has made 69 appearances in 15 months for the Gunners, and spent the summer playing for Chile in their victorious Copa America campaign.
