Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that it is vital that they get a time period on midfielder Jack Wilshere's return from injury.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed the importance of getting midfielder Jack Wilshere back to fitness as soon as possible.

Wilshere, 20, has been dogged by an ankle injury so far this season, and last week revealed that he had suffered another stress fracture.

The England international is due to meet a specialist in the next few days, and Wenger is hoping that the club will get a better idea of when Wilshere will be available again.

"I hope that we will get good news from him because that is very important for Arsenal," said the Frenchman.

"This is the stage where the [latest] scan will be vital to decide when he will come back."

Wilshere was named in the PFA Team of the Year last season, as well as being named PFA Young Player of the Year and Arsenal Player of the Year.
