Jack Wilshere ready to return to Arsenal squad

Jack Wilshere insists that he is ready to return to the Arsenal side following his latest battle with an ankle injury.

Jack Wilshere has claimed that he is ready to make his return for Arsenal after making more progress in recovering from his latest injury.

The England international has been absent since November due to an ankle problem, but he managed to play 90 minutes for the club's Under-21s team alongside Mikel Arteta and is confident that he can make an impact for Arsene Wenger's side in the closing stages of the season.

"You can train as much as you like but you can't get that match fitness unless you play," Wilshere told the club's website. "In the Premier League you know how quick it is so you have to get back to that speed.

"I feel like I'm ready to play some part. When you're injured you look at your comeback date and the games around that time.

"The one that stands out is the FA Cup semi-final but even before that we've got big games and we've got to got to Man United as well so there's a chance to play this season."

A report has suggested that Arsenal could face a battle to keep Wilshere this summer, with Manchester City rumoured to be interested in the 23-year-old.
