Manchester City interested in Jordan Henderson, Jack Wilshere?

Manchester City are considering making summer bids for both Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to reports.

Manchester City have reportedly identified Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as potential summer targets.

A disappointing defence of their Premier League title is likely to result in a busy transfer market for City, and signing young English players is believed to be a target for the club's hierarchy.

According to the Daily Mail, the champions are monitoring Henderson's situation closely due to the uncertainty surrounding his future, with one year remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

Henderson has been a key player for Liverpool this season and is expected to become the club's captain when Steven Gerrard leaves in the summer, but much like teammate Raheem Sterling, a lack of progress in contract negotiations has attracted the attention of their rivals.

The report claims that City are also interested in Wilshere, whose campaign has once again been disrupted by injuries, but Arsenal are unlikely to accept an offer of less than £30m for the 23-year-old.

Wilshere has been restricted to 15 appearances in all competitions this season, and he is far from an automatic starter in a squad packed with midfielders at the Emirates Stadium.
