Manchester City transfer roundup: Chelsea bid for Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus set to join Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up the latest Man City transfer news, including updates on the futures of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva.

While Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be keen to make a few more additions to his squad this summer, there could be a number of first-team players heading for the exit door.

The Premier League champions have already recruited forwards Erling Braut Haaland and Julian Alvarez ahead of the 2022-23 season, but now that competition for places has intensified, the Citizens are seemingly open to allowing at least one of their star names to depart the Etihad Stadium for the right price.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest Man City transfer news, including updates on Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva.

With Raheem Sterling's long-term future at the Etihad believed to be uncertain, Chelsea have recently emerged as a strong contender to acquire the forward's signature.

The Blues have stepped up their efforts to recruit the 27-year-old and they are understood to have tabled an opening offer worth £21.4m plus add-ons, which has been rejected by Man City, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Citizens are open to selling Sterling for the right price this summer and value the England international between £47.1m and £51.4m.

Chelsea, who are set to reinforce their frontline this summer with Inter Milan target Romelu Lukaku expected to leave the club, are planning to make a second bid for Sterling, who has just a year remaining on his contract.

Pep Guardiola provides positive update on Bernardo Silva's future

Bernardo Silva is another City star who has been heavily linked with an exit, but Guardiola has provided a positive update on his future at the club.

The Catalan boss, who was speaking at a press conference on Monday to confirm City's charity friendly with Barcelona on August 24 to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, told reporters that he expects the 27-year-old to remain at the Etihad this summer.

Silva is believed to be Barcelona's primary target should they decide to sell Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United this summer, with head coach Xavi a huge admirer of the Portugal international.

The £80m-rated playmaker still has three years remaining on his contract, but it is thought that he is contemplating a fresh challenge elsewhere and could be open to a switch to Camp Nou.

Gabriel Jesus is seemingly the most likely Man City star to leave the club this summer, amid reports linking him with a host of clubs including Arsenal.

There is no hiding the fact that the Gunners are on the lookout for a new centre-forward and Jesus – who has just a year remaining on his contract at the Etihad – is believed to be Mikel Arteta's primary target to replace Alexandre Lacazette.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Jesus, but Goal claims that Arsenal are edging closer to finalising a deal to sign the 25-year-old and could potentilly announce his arrival at the Emirates Stadium before the end of the week.

Jesus, who could cost in the region of £50m, has recorded 95 goals and 46 assists in 236 appearances for Man City across all competitions since joining the club five and a half years ago.
