Arsenal and Juventus are reportedly both monitoring any developments with the future of Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal and Juventus.

Laporte has just reached five-and-a-half seasons at the Etihad Stadium, winning a remarkable 12 pieces of silverware during that period.

However, despite making 179 appearances in all competitions, just 12 of those outings came in the Premier League during the 2022-23 campaign.

That has resulted in the Spain international considering his options, City open to cashing in on 29-year-old providing that they attract a suitable bid.

Aston Villa had allegedly been interested in Laporte before they eventually moved for Villarreal's Pau Torres, with that transfer expected to be finalised over the coming days.

Furthermore, it was alleged that the former Athletic Bilbao man rejected the advances of Tottenham Hotspur due to their failure to qualify for European football next season.

Nevertheless, according to reports in Spain, Arsenal and Juventus are both contemplating whether to make an approach for the experienced defender.

The Gunners, who finished as runners-up to Man City in last season's Premier League, are in line to spend in excess of £200m on Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

That said, Mikel Arteta could still benefit from acquiring another centre-back, particularly a left-sided one which would enhanced his ability to switch to a back three if required.

City have shown in the past that they are open to doing business with Arsenal having allowed Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to move to the Emirates Stadium prior to the start of the last campaign.

Given the financial situation and lack of Champions League football, Juventus may find it more difficult to secure the signature of Laporte, but there is an opening for him to become a mainstay of their backline.

City are also allegedly bidding to get a deal for RB Leipzig Josko Gvardiol over the line, with Pep Guardiola willing to commit to spending £86m on the Croatia international.

The 21-year-old is earmarked as a direct alternative for Laporte, increasing Juventus' chances of negotiating terms with their counterparts at City.
