Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal.
The midfielder, who only turned 18 years of age in October, made a total of two starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, a quarter of which came throughout May.
However, as of yet, Villa are yet to agree fresh terms with the teenager, who has just a year remaining on his existing deal at the West Midlands outfit.
Earlier this week, Barcelona were said to have held preliminary talks with Chukwuemeka's representatives, and it appears that the Catalan giants would face competition for the prospect's signature.
According to Sport, Arsenal are also monitoring the situation and are ready to move if Villa fail to convince Chukwuemeka that his best chance of regular game time is at his current club.
In theory, a creative central midfielder would fit the bill for Mikel Arteta and the Gunners, with Chukwuemeka also capable of being used in a more advanced role.
