Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign a new holding midfielder during this summer's transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly keen to bring a new holding midfielder to the club during this summer's transfer window.

The coronavirus outbreak means that the upcoming market is likely to be a lot quieter than in recent years, although transfer business is still expected to take place.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal will not have a substantial budget ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, but the club are determined to bring a new holding midfielder to the Emirates Stadium.

Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka are both options in that area of the field, although the former is being linked with a return to Italy, while the latter has had his problems both on and off the pitch this season.

The Gunners are expected to lose on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos ahead of the 2020-21 season, meanwhile, further highlighting the need for another body in the middle of the park.

Mikel Arteta's side are also said to be keen to strengthen their defence this summer, while a new forward is expected to arrive if club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves in search of pastures new.
