Arsenal's Joe Willock 'agrees to Newcastle United loan'

Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock reportedly agrees to join Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock has reportedly agreed to head out on loan to Newcastle United for the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign.

The 21-year-old boasts three goals and three assists from five Europa League appearances so far, but his game time in the Premier League has been limited to just seven appearances - two of them starts.

Willock has watched on from the bench as fellow academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe stars for the Gunners, and the recent arrival of Martin Odegaard has also pushed him further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

As a result, Sky Sports News claim that an agreement has now been reached for the England Under-21s international to ply his trade at St James' Park for the rest of the 2020-21 season.

With the Gunners not able to offer Willock the desired game time due to their plethora of options in midfield, it is hoped that the youngster will enjoy regular first-team appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle.

The two clubs now have less than three hours to get a deal wrapped up before the 11pm deadline, but the mood surrounding the situation is thought to be positive.

Willock's fellow Englishman Ainsley Maitland-Niles could also be on his way out in the next few hours, with West Bromwich Albion supposedly hoping to secure his signature on a temporary basis.
