Hector Bellerin announces that he has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

Hector Bellerin has put rumours about his Arsenal future to bed by announcing that he has signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates.

The 21-year-old right-back has become an integral member of Arsene Wenger's team since making his breakthrough in the 2014-15 season, but there were doubts over his long-term future.

Recently the Spaniard had been linked to Manchester City, while Barcelona were rumoured to be keen on a reunion having had Bellerin at the club's academy for eight years before he joined Arsenal at the age of 17.

However, the Spaniard has opted to commit his future to the North London outfit by penning a new deal thought to be six-and-a-half years in length.

While addressing the fans via a Twitter video, Bellerin admitted that he was "very happy" to agree fresh terms, and described the Premier League club as his "home".

Within the statement confirming Bellerin's new deal, the club said: "We look forward to Hector's continued progress with the club in the years to come."

Last season, the right-back made 44 appearances in all competitions and produced assists for nine goals, while in the current campaign he has played in 11 of the club's 12 Premier League matches.
