Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere "progressing well"

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reveals that Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla are a few weeks away from first-team returns.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla could return to action in a few weeks.

Wilshere has been out with a calf injury for all of the season to date, while Cazorla has been absent since the end of November with a knee problem.

"Jack and Santi are progressing well but they are at least a few weeks away," Wenger told reporters today. "But these two apart, it is just about competitiveness and match fitness."

The Frenchman also revealed that Tomas Rosicky and Francis Coquelin are now back in contention, while Danny Welbeck will play in upcoming fixtures with the Under-21s side ahead of a full return to the first team.

"Danny Welbeck is not completely ready but he is not far," Wenger added. "He needs a game or two because he's been out since last April. The Stoke [U21] game is too soon because he only had one session with the team, and that is too short."

Arsenal entertain Championship side Burnley in the FA Cup this Saturday before resuming league action at home to Southampton on February 2.
