Luis Enrique 'demands £200m Arsenal budget'

Ex-Barcelona manager Luis Enrique reportedly asks for a £200m transfer kitty in order to succeed Arsene Wenger as Arsenal boss.

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has reportedly demanded a transfer kitty of £200m if he is to accept the upcoming vacancy at Arsenal.

Earlier this month long-standing Gunners boss Arsene Wenger announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, prompting a flurry of speculation over his successor.

Thought to be among the high-profile candidates is Enrique, who won the Champions League, two La Liga titles and three consecutive Copas del Rey during his three seasons in Catalonia.

According to The Sun, Enrique would "rip through the squad" if he takes over from Wenger at the Emirates and plans changes to the goalkeeping, defensive and midfield lines.

The newspaper says that the Spaniard wants £200m in order to strengthen in those areas but is content with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as his attacking options.

Arsenal are destined for a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League and face an uphill battle to reach the final of the Europa League following a 1-1 first-leg semi-final draw with Atletico Madrid last night.
