Liverpool, Arsenal 'make contact with Denis Zakaria'

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly in contact with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria over a possible transfer.

Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The defensive midfielder has played every minute of Gladbach's season in all competitions so far and has caught the eye of top Premier League clubs in the process.

Zakaria has sufficiently impressed Liverpool and Arsenal's scouts that the pair have taken initial steps over a possible transfer, while Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be in the mix, according to Sky Deutschland.

In addition, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are all monitoring the 22-year-old.

Gladbach are unlikely to allow their prized asset to leave in January, particularly as they are mounting a surprise title challenge this season, but given the growing list of top clubs interested in the Switzerland international, a summer move could be on the cards.
