Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly the driving force behind the club's plans to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged the club to press ahead with plans to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to a report.

The 22-year-old's future at the Bernabeu is unclear amid suggestions that he is not in Zinedine Zidane's plans and is viewed as one of the players the club could sell to fund their summer spending spree.

Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly more open to keeping Ceballos at the club after struggling to find an affordably-priced replacement, with Manchester United demanding £150m for Paul Pogba.

However, AS reports that Pochettino views the Spain international as an ideal alternative to Christian Eriksen, whose own future remains uncertain after admitting that he wanted to leave the club earlier this summer.

Spurs have not received any offers for the Danish playmaker so far but are still on the lookout for potential replacements despite already bringing in Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.

The report claims that a season-long loan deal could be an option, with Ceballos open to joining Tottenham but also confident that he still has a long-term future at Madrid.

The European Under-21 Championship winner has also been linked with Tottenham's North London rivals Arsenal.
