Report: Arsenal ready to land Asier Illarramendi

Asier Illarramendi will leave Real Madrid for Arsenal this summer, according to reports.

Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi is ready to complete a £28.9m move to Arsenal, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu following the arrival of Lucas Silva in January, and is now thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

With Arsene Wenger eager to sign a defensive midfielder this summer, Illarramendi has emerged as a likely option for the Gunners, according to Marca.

The newspaper reports that Arsenal are Illarramendi's first choice, though Liverpool are also understood to be an option.

Illarramendi joined Real Madrid from Real Sociedad for £34m in 2013, and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for Los Blancos.
