A report claims that Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Dennis Praet, having watched the Sampdoria midfielder up close against Lazio at the weekend.

Arsenal reportedly had scouts present to watch Sampdoria's clash with Lazio at the weekend as they continue to run the rule over Dennis Praet.

The Gunners are on the lookout for a midfield replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey, and Praet is believed to be one of a number of possible options.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the 24-year-old as they watched him up close as his Sampdoria side lost 2-1 at home to Lazio on Sunday.

Praet played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, where Juventus scouts are also believed to have been present.

Samp president Massimo Ferrero has confessed that his side are unlikely to keep hold of the Belgium international, who has a valuation of around £22m.
