Report: Arsenal to move for Calum Chambers

Southampton's Calum Chambers is reportedly a summer transfer target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid to sign Southampton defender Calum Chambers.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is believed to have made the recruitment of a right-back one of his major tasks during the summer following confirmation from Bacary Sagna that he will leave the club on a free transfer.

In preparation for such an outcome, Wenger had 19-year-old Chambers watched on a number of occasions last term and was suitably impressed enough to submit a bid to the Saints in the near future, according to The People.

The report added that because Chambers only signed a new contract at the St Mary's Stadium last year, Southampton are under no pressure to sell the full-back and so will demand a hefty fee before they considered sanctioning the sale.
