Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier in this summer's transfer window.
Arsenal have also been consistently linked with the Ivory Coast international, who is likely to appear at the World Cup in Brazil.
It has been suggested that Aurier is seen as a long-term replacement for Bacary Sagna, but it is understood that Arsene Wenger is yet to make a move for the 21-year-old.
Now, it looks like Liverpool are ready to take advantage of Arsenal's hesitation and launch a bid for the defender, who is thought to be worth around £7m.
Rodgers has identified targets to strengthen his defence at Anfield, with the club also hopeful of completing the signing of Sevilla's Alberto Moreno in the coming weeks.
