Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a January move for Espanyol and Mexico defender Hector Moreno.
The Gunners deployed chief scout Brian McDermott to watch the 26-year-old in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Valencia in the Copa del Rey.
Manager Arsene Wenger has identified Moreno as the man to bolster his shakey defence, with right-back Mathieu Debuchy also facing three months out with a dislocated shoulder.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Wenger faces competition from Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, who worked with Moreno at Espanyol.
The Mexican, whose contract expires in 2016, has 57 caps for his country and featured in last summer's World Cup.
