Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg during the January transfer window
The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for his Italian club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring three times and contributing two assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.
Man City have been strongly linked with the Sweden international, while Arsenal have also recently been credited with an interest in his services.
However, according to inews, Spurs are the frontrunners to sign the midfielder, with head coach Antonio Conte identifying him as the ideal winter signing for the North London club.
The report claims that Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici's links with Italy has placed the Premier League club in a strong position when it comes to signing the Swede.
Svanberg has allegedly recently turned down the chance to sign a new contract at Bologna, and his existing deal with the Italian outfit is due to expire in June 2023.
