Bookmakers slash odds on Justin Edinburgh to Aston Villa

The odds of Justin Edinburgh taking charge of Aston Villa drop dramatically over the last few hours.

A handful of bookmakers have placed Justin Edinburgh in the running to be the next manager of Aston Villa.

At the start of the day the Gillingham boss was around a 66-1 shot to fill the post, which has been available since Sunday when his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Tim Sherwood was sacked.

However, over the last few hours the 45-year-old's odds have been slashed as low as 10-1 with one bookie, while others have priced him at 12-1 and 14-1.

The likes of Remi Garde, David Moyes and Gus Poyet are still regarded more likely appointments, but the drop in odds would suggest that money has been placed on Edinburgh making the jump from League One to the Premier League.

Edinburgh's Gillingham are currently top of League One, having lost only two of their 15 matches this term.
