Harry Redknapp rules out Aston Villa move

Ex-Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp says that he does not expect to become the next manager of Aston Villa.

Former Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has stated that he is not in the running to become the next manager of Aston Villa.

The Premier League strugglers are currently looking for a new boss after sacking Tim Sherwood on Sunday, with the likes of Remi Garde and Bob Bradley linked with the role.

However, Redknapp has stated that rather than just looking abroad for their next manager, Villa should also scour the lower leagues in England for untapped quality.

"It's a fantastic football club but I wouldn't see myself getting that job," he told talkSPORT.

"It would be difficult for me now, but it's a great job for somebody. There are managers in the lower divisions, when are they going to get a chance?

"How are they ever going to manage at a top level unless they get their team promoted? If you're managing in the Championship, the only way you're going to get into the Premier League is if you take your team up. There are loads of lads down there who could do the job, they just need the opportunity."

Redknapp has been out of work since leaving Queens Park Rangers in February.
