Aston Villa boss Remi Garde "very disappointed" by defeat to Everton

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde admits that he is "very disappointed" following his side's 3-1 defeat to Everton.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has admitted that he is "very disappointed" by his side's 3-1 defeat to Everton at Villa Park on Tuesday night.

The Midlands outfit, who are eight points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League table, showed encouraging signs but could not claim a much-needed victory.

Rudy Gestede scored in the 79th minute, but Everton had already won the game thanks to goals from Ramiro Funes Mori, Aaron Lennon and Romelu Lukaku.

"We are very disappointed of course," Garde told Sky Sports News. "We have conceded again three goals, two early ones - after that it's very difficult to come back in the game.

"The second half was better but not we did not create enough chances to threaten Everton. We clearly tonight had a lack of confidence. Most spells of the game were good - we created chances, we scored one goal but Everton were better than us."

The result was Villa's 18th league defeat of the season.
