Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given admits that he is frustrated with the lack of first-team action this season.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has admitted that he has been frustrated with the lack of first-team action this season.

The 36-year-old Irishman has made nine appearances in all competitions since August, falling behind Brad Guzan in the pecking order at Villa Park.

"I'm just keeping my head down and hoping to get a chance," Given told the Birmingham Mail. "To be fair to Brad he's been playing some great stuff and doing really well.

"It is a tough one for the manager to pick one of us. He has gone with Brad this season and it has been difficult for me at times because when you work hard all week and come match day you are not playing, it is hard."

Given joined Villa from Manchester City in summer 2011 for around £3.5m.
