Shay Given: 'Tim Sherwood will have a plan to replace Fabian Delph, Christian Benteke'

Former Aston Villa keeper Shay Given believes that Tim Sherwood will have a plan to replace Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke at the club.

Former Aston Villa keeper Shay Given has said that he is confident Tim Sherwood will bring in the right players to replace Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke.

Delph left the Villans after agreeing an £8m switch to Manchester City last week, while Benteke is poised to follow with a £32.5m move to Liverpool.

However, Given believes that Sherwood will be able to use the cash to replace the duo with quality players to ensure the club are not involved in a relegation battle next season.

"It's a bit worrying if you are an Aston Villa fan yes because they had a lot of players that have left," Given told Sky Sports News.

"Knowing Tim Sherwood as I do I think he'll have a master plan going on behind the scenes. I'm sure they're trying to get some players in and working hard for new signings as well, they do need to strengthen.

"It's such a big club, Aston Villa, and the fans will be biting their nails at home hoping they'll get some big players in before the window closes."

Given also left Villa in the summer to join Stoke City on a free transfer.
