Robbie Savage: 'I would have played for Aston Villa'

Robbie Savage claims that Aston Villa are a "bigger club" than his former side Birmingham City.

Former Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage has claimed that Aston Villa are a "bigger club" than the Blues.

The now-retired Savage, also revealed that he would have left St Andrew's to join Villa, a move which would have mirrored manager Alex McLeish's switch during the summer.

"I loved my time at Birmingham, but arguably Aston Villa are a bigger club and I would have moved to them as a player," Savage told Football Focus.

The 36-year-old, who made 82 appearances in three years with the Blues, recently agreed to take part in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
